(Kingston, Jamaica – Monday, June 16, 2025) JPS is reporting that its teams are making significant strides in restoring customers after this afternoon’s squall line brought strong winds, throwing debris, including zinc sheets into power lines. The most affected areas included sections of Kingston and St Andrew, St. Catherine, Clarendon, Manchester and Trelawny.
The Company has already restored over 41,000 of the 50,000 customers initially impacted and is now working to restore power to the remaining 8857 (approximately 1% of the customer base), who remain without supply as at 6:30 this evening.
The Company’s Incident Command Centre which is working around the clock, has projected that nearly all the remaining customers will be restored by midnight tonight.
JPS is reminding members of the public to exercise caution, especially around fallen wires, and to be careful of falling debris. Customers may report outages or hazards using the JPS mobile app, website, or Customer Care Centre at 888-CALL-JPS (888-225-5577).
