Fuel Rates

Fuel cost is by far one of the greatest contributors to the cost of electricity.  In 2016 Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) was first introduced into the fuel mix. Today, the fuel mix is approximately one-third Oil, two-thirds Liquefied Natural Gas, with a small percentage in renewables.  Changes in the cost of LNG and Oil on the world market are reflected in the prices charged by companies that sell fuel to JPS and other power producers..

Independent Power Producers (IPPs) supply us with more than one-third of the electricity we sell to customers. The cost of the IPPs are reflected in the IPP Charge.

RATE SCHEDULE: The “Rate Schedule” or “Tariff Schedule” tells you the rates used to calculate your electricity bill. These rates are set by the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR).
