Charging looks complicated from the outside and turns out to be simpler than a gas pump. There are two speeds on the network, and the difference is how long you wait.
Slow and steady
The car converts this on board, so it's measured in hours rather than minutes. Best where you are parked anyway — at home, at work, at a hotel, or while you shop.

Fast, for the road
Power goes straight to the battery, skipping the car's on-board converter. This is the one you want mid-journey.

Jamaica is about 235 km end to end and the average driver here covers well under 60 km a day. A modern EV does that several times over on one charge, and there are 20 charging locations between you and anywhere you are going.
At a Level 3 point, 20 to 45 minutes gets most cars to 80% — about the length of a supermarket run. On a Level 2 point, or at home, it is 3 to 6 hours, so you plug in and leave it. Both depend on your vehicle and battery size.
There is no oil to change, no spark plugs, no exhaust and no conventional gearbox. Brakes last longer because the motor does most of the slowing. The battery is warrantied for years by every major manufacturer.
The network works with all EV brands — Tesla, BYD, Toyota, MG and more. Level 2 points use AC connectors (J1772 Type 1, Mennekes Type 2, GB/T) and Level 3 points use DC (CHAdeMO, CCS1, CCS2, GB/T, Tesla). Adapters may be required, and they are available at select locations.
Charging equipment is weather-sealed and safe to use in rain — the connector will not deliver power until it is locked into the car. If a station is offline, the app shows it before you drive there.
Why an EV

It costs less per kilometre
Electricity is cheaper per kilometre than petrol, and charging overnight at the off-peak rate is the cheapest way to do it.
There is far less to service
No oil changes, no spark plugs, no exhaust, no timing belt. Fewer moving parts means fewer trips to the garage.
It drives better
Instant torque from a standstill, no gear changes, and almost no engine noise. Traffic is a good deal less tiring.
