RESTORATION STATUS
CUSTOMERS RESTORED:
All parishes now have customers restored in some sections. Notable progress continues to be made in western parishes that were hardest hit by Hurricane Melissa, with several customers having been restored. However, widespread damage requires major network rebuilding, which is under way.
- As of Saturday, December 27, approximately 88% of customers have supply. Approximately 12% of customers remain without power, down from 77% at the start of restoration.
- Work continues across the island, with priority still being given to critical sites, economic zones, and town centres in the hardest hit parishes.
DAMAGE ASSESSMENT: Damage assessment has now been completed on 100% of distribution feeders, and also on the transmission network and substations.

JPS Delivers on Christmas Promise: Power has started returning to Black River; Hospital Now Energized
(Kingston, December 25, 2025) JPS is now delivering on the promise of light to the town of Black River in St. Elizabeth. The town, which was decimated by Hurricane Melissa, started to receive light along its main lines, on Christmas morning (December 25). The Black River Hospital, the major hospital serving the parish, is also now energized. It is the last major hospital to receive electricity since the natural disaster hit the island.
The promise, which was made on Christmas Eve, by JPS President & CEO, Hugh Grant, was met by cheers and applause, during an event earlier that day in Treasure Beach. Black River is the last parish capital to receive power,``...``

JPS Delivers on Restoration Targets Announced in November.
(December 10, 2025) JPS has delivered on its projected December restoration targets, which were announced at a media briefing held on November 13 in Montego Bay – thereby marking a major milestone in the national recovery effort following the passage of the devastating Category 5 Hurricane Melissa.
The company has now delivered on several commitments it had made to the nation in early November, as it tackled the tremendous task of rebuilding the transmission and distribution infrastructure which had suffered catastrophic damage from the hurricane. At the time, JPS President & CEO, Hugh Grant, had committed to restoring power to 95% of ``....``

Hundreds of Lineworkers from Jamaica and Overseas in Montego Bay Today – working to restore the city
(Kingston, November 16, 2025) Hundreds of lineworkers from Jamaica, the Caribbean and North America are presently in the city of Montego Bay, working to restore power to critical facilities and residential areas in the tourism capital. JPS made the report this morning, from its Regional Incident Command Centre in Montego Bay.
The Company notes that it is cognizant of the vital role that the city of Montego Bay plays in the national economy, and also as a major employer for residents in the neighbouring parishes of Westmoreland, Hanover, Trelawny and St. Ann. ``...``
