Key Sites Restored
RESTORATION STATUS
CUSTOMERS RESTORED: While doing damage assessment, JPS teams are using the opportunity to carry out repairs and restore service to some customers in the parishes with less severe damage:
- As at Thursday, November 13, 67% of customers have power supply, mainly in Kingston and St. Andrew, St. Catherine, St. Thomas, Clarendon, Manchester, Portland and most recently in St. Mary, St. James, St. Ann, and small sections of Elizabeth.
- Approximately 33% of customers are currently without power supply, down from 77% at the start of the restoration.
- Sections of Trelawny, including sections of Falmouth and Duncans, the Cruise Ship Pier, and the Falmouth Hospital have been restored.
- Additional sections of St. Ann have also been restored, including the Shaw Park and Bogue NWC pumps, The Ibex BPO, and the Ocho Rios Fire Station.
- Sections of the town of Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth have also now been restored.
- Work continues in Montego Bay to restore additional critical sites and economic zones.
DAMAGE ASSESSMENT: Damage assessment has been completed on 100% of transmission lines and substations and 88% of distribution feeders.

JPS warns the public to beware of impersonators
PS is advising members of the public to be on the lookout for unscrupulous individuals posing as JPS workers or contractors. These individuals are claiming they are on location to carry out electricity-related services and checks, in order to gain unauthorized access to customers’ premises. These actions are illegal and threaten public safety.

More regional support strengthens JPS restoration efforts
JPS has welcomed additional support from regional utility partners as the company continues extensive restoration work following the passage of Category 5 Hurricane Melissa.
A contingent of 24 line workers from the St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) arrived in the island on Friday afternoon to join local crews in the field. Their arrival marks a significant reinforcement of the ongoing efforts to rebuild sections of the power grid network severely impacted by the hurricane.

Aerial patrol reveals significant damage to key power grid infrastructure.
JPS is reporting extensive damage to key infrastructure across its power delivery network, following the passage of Category 5 Hurricane Melissa. Coming out of an aerial tour of the most severely hit parishes, JPS President and CEO, Hugh Grant, commented on the magnitude of work that lies ahead for the power company:
