The JPS Foundation has announced that applications are now open to schools who wish to receive grants for students sitting the Caribbean Examination Council’s (CSEC) Industrial Technology (Electrical) Examination, for the academic year 2023 to 2024. Applications open on Friday October 13 and close on Friday, October 27, 2023.
Through this annual grant provided by the JPS Foundation, for the 7th consecutive year, qualifying high school students have the opportunity to sit this CSEC exam, at no cost to their parents.
The application criteria are on the JPS website at www.jpsco.com/jps-foundation-csec-grant/. Schools must have an average pass rate of 60% or more over the past two academic years in the subject area, and must also have an overall CSEC exam average sit rate of 75% or higher over the past two years. First time school applicants are also invited to apply.
Principals or their designates should fill out the online application on the JPS website by October 27, to be eligible to apply to have the cost of these exams covered by the Foundation.
Head of the JPS Foundation, Sophia Lewis, explained that the Foundation has sponsored almost 3,000 CSEC students to date, and looks forward to adding to the number of beneficiaries, as it works to help fulfil the Ministry of Education’s mandate to equip our students with at least one skills-based subject, at the secondary level.
The JPS Foundation is the outreach arm of JPS, focused on contributing to national development through education and youth development.
