JPS is a member of the Caribbean Electric Utility Service Corporation (CARILEC), which is an association of electric utilities, suppliers, manufacturers and other stakeholders operating within the electricity industry in the Caribbean. CARILEC was established in 1989, and currently has a total of ninety-one (91) members. This includes twenty-nine (29) Full Members that are electric utilities, fifty-nine (59) Associate Members that are companies involved in some aspect of servicing the electric utility business, and three (3) Affiliate Members.


Marubeni Caribbean Power Holdings, Inc., a subsidiary of Marubeni Corporation of Japan, holds 40% shares in JPS.


The Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) is the independent regulatory agency with responsibility for the utility sector in Jamaica.


Korean East West Power Company Ltd.
Korea East-West Power Company Ltd holds 40% shares in JPS.


The Government of Jamaica (GOJ) – Ministry of Science, Energy & Technology (MSTEM)
The GOJ owns 19.9% of the company’s shares. The remaining 80% is shared equally between Marubeni Corporation and Korea East-West Power Company Ltd , the remaining less than 1%, is held by private shareholders.
