Mr. Smith’s responsibilities include Research, Business Planning, Corporate Performance Management, Financial Analysis and Corporate Strategy. He joined JPS in 1989, and his enthusiasm and focus has placed him in several leadership positions in the Finance and Planning areas of the organization. He has had responsibility for various functions including Financial and Management Accounting, Financial Planning, and Risk Management/Insurance.
Mr. Smith’s 20 years of experience in Corporate Accounting and Finance, along with the experience gained over the years working closely with international stakeholders including Mirant and Marubeni Caribbean and EWP, has provided him with the tools to support the transformation of JPS. In November 2012, he gained valuable exposure to Korea’s Electric system through the Jamaica Power Engineering Program of Korea sponsored by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
Aldington Smith has been a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of the UK for over 15 years. He holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the Mona School of Business University of West Indies and has also completed the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program – a professional credential offered by the CFA Institute (USA).
